Band is Wednesday, March 1st in the Black Box, Chorus is this Thursday, March 2nd at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church at 7 PM, and Orchestra concert is March 7th in the Black Box at 7 PM. These are free concerts and open to students, parents, and faculty. Come out to support the NWSA Music Department! -The NWSA Maya Angelou Art Competition is in full swing! In honor of women's history month, the Harvey B. Gantt Center will host an evening celebrating the life of the legendary Maya Angelou. This competition is open to all students at Northwest students! Submissions can include a dance work, painting, sculpture, print or drawing as they relate to the depth of Maya's work. The student work will be shown at the Gantt Center just adjacent to the current exhibition in the Hewitt Gallery. Submission deadline is March 8th, 2017. -Our Scholastic Book Fair is coming soon and will turn the Media Center into our very own bookstore. Find hundreds of books from new and favorite authors, popular series, cool posters and school supplies, not to mention fun! The Scholastic Book Fair will be here from March 13th to March 17th and everyone is invited! Join NWSA's new Maker Club! If you're interested in tinkering, upcycling, crafting, knitting, 3D printing, robots, coding, and pretty much making, in general, you are invited to join us! Our first meeting will be Tuesday, March 7th, before school at 8:15 and we will meet every Tuesday morning in the Media Center. Each week, we will have a different focus. For our first meeting, we will be making infinity scarves! Just bring your own large or extra large t-shirt and be ready to make! You will be given a schedule on March 7th, as well, so make sure to join us in the Media Center at 8:15!

There will be auditions held Wednesday, March 30th at 7:30 AM in Mrs. Binfords room. It is open to all dance majors from 8th through 11th grade.l All applications will be due on March 3rd and may be turned into any of our dance teachers. If you do not have an application, please go see Mr. Winn or Mrs. Binford. This is a reminder that all performers in the Big Picture will have a mandatory 7am meeting on Monday, Feb 6 in Mrs. Fraker's room. Remember that you must bring a parent or guardian for a quick 15 minute meeting that day before rehearsals start. If your parent cannot attend, please have them email Mrs. Buckner for the info packet. |
